Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we have a 2024 GMC Sierra 2500 and we're gonna be taking a look at and I'm gonna show you how to install the Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Airbags. These air helper springs are more commonly known as airbags are going to mount between the frame of your vehicle and the top of your axle. And what they're designed to do is they will help to support the rear end of your truck when hauling a heavy load in the bed or on the hitch. These air helper strings are going to have a load carrying capacity of 5,000 pounds and a PSI rating of a maximum of 100 PSI. Now these specific airbags are going to be able to, you can air them down to zero because they have an internal jounce bumper. more

Air Lift Ride Control Air Helper Springs Installation - 2018 GMC Sierra 1500

Hey, guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install our Air Lift Air Control Air Helper Springs on our 2018 GMC Sierra 1500. These air helper springs, or more commonly known as air bags, are going to mount to the side of your frame rail and in already pre-existing holes into the top of your leaf spring pack. And essentially what they're designed to do is to help limit the travel of your suspension. Whenever you're hooking up to a trailer or hauling a heavy load in the bed of your truck, the air bag's gonna take some of the weight so that your truck doesn't have to squat so bad and you can get the front end of your truck back on the ground, your headlights will be back, pointed at the road. A lot of times when people are towing super heavy things with 1500s, because they're built more for comfort than a 2500 or a 3500, they can tend to squat a lot in the back, and that's what these are designed to help with. more

Adding air helper springs to the back of your vehicle is gonna allow you to help to bring up the back end of the vehicle whenever you're hauling a heavy load in the bed of your truck or behind it on the hitch. This is what our airbags are gonna look like when they're installed. You're gonna have a double convoluted design, which essentially means that there's gonna be two bubbles instead of one big one. And separating that in the middle is going to be a very strong steel band. more

Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we have a 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4, and we're gonna be taking a look at and I'm gonna show you how to install the Firestone Ride-Rite air helper springs. The idea behind air helper springs is so that you can help to support the rear end of your vehicle when you're towing a trailer, or if you're like my friend here, this is his personal vehicle that he uses for work. He owns a concrete company, and he's got a lot of concrete tools in this toolbox and in the bed of his truck. So his truck is already constantly sagging. He's actually about a half inch lower in the rear than he is in the front. more

Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate Rear Air Helper Springs Installation - 2019 GMC Sierra 1500

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today, we're taking a look, and installing the Air Lift LoadLifter 5000, Ultimate Rear Helper springs with internal jounce bumper on a 2019 GMC Sierra 1500. Now adding airbags to any truck is gonna be great, especially if you have a bunch of different loads that you may tow, that maybe vary because you get the adjustability of having different air pressures for different loads, and it's just gonna take a lot of the strain off your factory suspension, it's gonna keep the vehicle from squatting, and overall, you're just gonna have a level ride which translates to better steering, better braking, and your headlights aren't gonna be shining up, there's a lot of different things, but overall, it's just gonna make it better for the driver. A lot of times, once you air those bags up with that heavy load, instead of the truck kind of sagging down and feeling like it's struggling, it's gonna give it that little extra supplemental help on that suspension to really feel like it's got a little bit more gusto to tow that trailer. Now these replace your factory jounce bumpers, which from the factory, they're fairly small, they bolt up here, and others actually has a lift plate that closes up the gap. But the problem is, is that suspension, it has to compress a decent amount before it bottoms out, and that means that truck is gonna sag all the way down until it bottoms, and then at this point, you're really not getting a whole lot of cushion, and that's where these come into play. You can adjust the pressure for, you know, the weight of the trailer, but also these have an internal jounce bumper, so it's gonna act as a bump stop as you're going down the road, so you still get that nice comfort of going down without a trailer loaded, but also it's heavy-duty enough to really supplement. more

Hey, everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2022 GMC Sierra 2500, we're gonna be showing you how to install the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs over the rear axle, but before we get into that, let's take a minute, check these out and make sure they're gonna work for you. So what an airbag is going to do is provide your truck with additional support here in the back. And whenever you're hooked up to a real heavy trailer or got a bunch of weight in the bed of your truck, what tends to happen is a truck squats down and kind of gives you a poor ride. It's not ideal to drive around like that. Your suspension's getting overworked, or your ride quality is poor and things of that nature, and so with air spring back here, it's gonna give you that extra support to get the truck level again, and in general, just improve your overall ride quality and help prolong the life of all your factory suspension components. more

Hey guys, this is Jake here with etrailer.com. Today we have a 2018 GMC Sierra 2500 and we're gonna be taking a look at and I'm gonna show you how to install the Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 airbags. A prime example of why you should get a set of airbags is right behind us. We have a truck here that tows a fifth-wheel camper and the pin weight on it is about 2,000 pounds. That is a lot of weight pushing down on the bed of this truck. So adding a set of airbags, they will sit in between the axle of your truck in the frame and they're designed to take some of the weight so that your vehicle suspension doesn't have to do all the work. more

Hey guys, this is Jake here with etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at and I'm gonna walk you through the installation of the Firestone RED Label Ride-Rite air helper springs on our 2022 GMC Sierra 2500. Now, a lot of people ask what is the main purpose of adding a set of airbags or air helper springs like we have here to your vehicle And essentially what they're designed to do is they're designed to help take some of the load. As you can see here, we have about between 15 and 1600 pounds in the bed of our truck. And before we had airbags, we had about 2 1/2 inches of squat. So these set of airbags is going to help to level up the truck or at least bring it back up closer to that factory ride height and eliminate some of that squat in the rear. more

Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System Installation - 2020 GMC Sierra 2500

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at Etrailer and today we're taking a look at installing the Timbren Severe Service Suspension Enhancement for your rear axle on a 2020 GMC Sierra 2500. Now this is how it's going to sit when it's installed and this one is a press in style. Now these just simply replace your factory jounce bumpers, and yours may be a bolt in application but all of these are gonna be no drill. They just simply take out your factory jounce and add this height and they're all gonna live about an inch above the rear axle. And what that means is you're gonna get this to initiate a lot quicker. So minimal amounts of sag is gonna push this against the rear axle and this is gonna start working, whereas before your factory jounce bumper clearly is quite a bit shorter and there's a lot of sagging that's gonna have to happen before it starts working. more

So you may be asking yourself, what are air helper springs, and why do you want them Because if you talk to your buddies about towing, chances are these have come up. And the reason for this is they're actually one of the most popular suspension enhancement options on the market and for good reason. So if you find yourself to be towing a trailer frequently or just simply hauling heavy loads, you probably experience rear end squat/sag. So this not only looks a little funky, but this rear end sag can actually have drastic effects on your vehicle. It could be something as minor as just the improper headlight aim, but all the way up to something as serious as improper braking or increased tire wear. more

Today on our 2012 GMC Sierra 2500, we're going to be taking a look at it, and showing you how to install the TorkLift StableLoader suspension upgrade. Now, one thing that separates this suspension enhancement from any of the others and probably one of my personal favorites, is how easy it is to disengage it when you're not using it. And because of that, you can still maintain your factory ride. To disengage it, just pull our pin. Pop that out. And you can simply move the wedges out of the way, and put your pin back in place. more

Timbren Rear Suspension System Installation - 2015 GMC Sierra 3500

Today in our 2015 GMC Sierra 3500, we're going to be installing Timbrens rear suspension enhancement system. And this is what our Timbrens look like when they're installed. They just replace our factory jounce bumper, but they're much more robust looking. You can see that they don't contact when the vehicle's unloaded, but it will contact right away once you put a little bit of load on it. The spring itself is designed to compress and the more it compresses, the stronger it gets providing more and more support. If you have a small load in the back to where it just barely touches, you're going to get some minimal support, it's just going to help smooth out your ride, reduce some sway and just be an overall more enjoyable experience. more

It's going to work in conjunction with our factory suspension, preventing that sagging that's typically found when we have a heavy load in the back, or hauling a heavy trailer. It's also going to make sure that our factory suspension is doing its job properly, and it's not taking on too much stress or unwanted strain. Our airbags can handle up to 5,000 pounds, but keep in mind these are just there for support. more

Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs Installation - 2018 GMC Sierra 1500

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 GMS Sierra 1500, we're going to be installing Firestone's Ride Right air helper springs, part number F2430.When your vehicle has got a heavy load in the back end, dragging it down, it causes the front end to lift up. This changes the geometry of your front suspension, which can cause excessive tire wear, more difficult time maintaining a straight line and also, it degrades your braking performance. These air helper springs are going to help maintain proper ride height under a heavy load. This going to reduce stress on your rear suspension, it's going to help improve your tire wear back to its factory, it's going to also help improve handling and braking performance. Now, if you're comparing these to other helper springs on our website, such as Sumo Spring's Jounce Bumpers, these are going to offer the most versatility sine they can be inflated between five and 100 PSI, they can adjust properly for each load. Whereas, the Sumo Springs are just going to be static and work with your load, but they're not going to be adjustable. We'll start our installation by doing a little bit of pre-assembly. We're going to take our air bag and our lower bracket. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 GMC Canyon, we're going to be installing Airlift's ride control air helper springs. Part number AL59533.This is what your airbags are going to look like when it's installed. As you can see it goes between your leaf spring and your frame to give that extra support. It's going to have independent lines for left and the right side, so you can help even out that load going down the road in case you have an uneven weight distribution. The operating range on these is between five and 100 psi. Five being an unloaded vehicle and 100 being the maximum load rating of 2,000 pounds. Now do remember that this extra carrying capacity does not increase the amount that your vehicle can haul. more

Timbren Rear Suspension System Installation - 2016 GMC Sierra 1500

Speaker 1: Today, on our 2016 GMC Sierra 1500, we're going be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System, part number TGMRCK15S. Whether you're hauling a heavy load or towing a heavy trailer, we've all experienced the vehicle sag in the back, which also causes the front end to rise up, which is never a good thing, because now we're relying on the rear axle to not only support the weight of our trailer, but also the weight of our vehicle. Our Timbren Suspension Enhancements is gonna provide us a lot more support and not allow the back end of the truck to come down as far, but still allow the suspension to move freely as it should. Now, our Timbren springs are going to replace our factory jounce stops and they're going to sit right above the axle. Now when it's unloaded it's not going to affect the ride at all, but they're going to become more stiffer as the more weight we apply, and they're going to provide us up to 8,600 pounds of load leveling support. I do want to mention these aren't going to increase your payload capacity. They're just there to help and support the weight of your trailer or the load in the back of your truck. more

Firestone Ride-Rite Rear Air Helper Springs Installation - 2016 GMC Sierra 2500

Speaker 1: Today in our 2016 GMC Sierra 2500HD, we'll be having a look at and installing the Firestone Ride-Rite Red Label Extreme Duty Air Helper Springs, part number F2702 in conjunction with the Lift Spacers for Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs for vehicles with a two inch lift, part number F2366.Now here's what our airbags look like installed. These airbags will give us a low leveling capacity of up to 7,500 pounds. It will not increase our gross vehicle weight rating by 7,500 pounds, this will maintain our ride quality and ride height with 7,500 pounds of weight in the bed. You'll want to consult with your owners manual of your truck and see if the vehicle is capable of towing or hauling that much weight before you attempt to do so, you don't want to cause damage to your vehicle. These airbags support anywhere between 5 and 150 PSI of air pressure. Unlike a lot of other competitors airbags on the market these are actually designed to be able to have the rear axle fully suspended when the truck is raised in the air for service. Other airbags from different manufacturers sometimes require the axle to be supported and not have the full weight of it hanging down because it could damage the airbag itself. more

Air Lift LoadLifter Air Helper Springs Installation - 2016 GMC Sierra 2500- Video

Air Lift LoadLifter Air Helper Springs Installation - 2016 GMC Sierra 2500

Today on our 2016 GMC Sierra 2500, we'll be having a look at and installing the Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate Air Helper Springs with Internal Jounce Bumpers, part number AL88338. Now, the reason you want these is because when we have a heavy load in the back of our truck or we're towing a heavy trailer with a high tongue weight, it alters the characteristics of the handling of our truck. The back end will squat down on the ground, and the front end will rise, giving us poor braking, increased tire wear, decreased handling, and also changing our headlight angle. With these installed supplementing our vehicle's suspension, it'll give us the extra comfort that we need and the extra safety that we need in order to maintain factory ride conditions with up to 5,000 pounds of weight on the truck. Now, when operating these airbags, it's important to keep in mind that they have a range of air pressure, from 5 psi at the minimum, up to 100 psi. All right, the first thing we want to do before we do our install is get a couple measurements here and find out where our truck sits with factory ride height. A completely stock truck right now, we have no weight in the bed of the truck at all, so this will give us a good baseline measurement to compare what happens when our truck's loaded down. We're just going to measure through the center line of the wheel up to the top of our wheel arch here. more

Today we're going to take a look at and also show you how to install the Firestone Ride Right Rear Axle Air Helper Springs with the Double Convoluted Design. The part number is F2528. Now before we begin the installation we're going to get measurements on the rear wheel well, also on that front wheel well, just to determine our target to get back to when we're done. Here in the back we've got about 43 1/4 and in the front it's about 39 1/2. Now you can see we've loaded up our water tank here. What we're doing with this is just simulating either pin weight or tongue weight here in the back of the truck. Now with the weight in it looks like the rear has come down about 2 inches, it's at 41 1/4 now. more

Today on our 2007 GMC Sierra 1500, we'll be installing the Firestone Sport-rite Air Helper Springs for the rear axle. This is part number F2320. The benefits of having an airbag system installed on your vehicle is for when you have a heavy load in the bed, you can help level it out. If you're towing a heavy trailer that has a high towing weight, you can help level it out so you don't have that trailer sag going on in your back bumper, and if you have a heavy load that's off to one side of the bed, you can actually fill them individually because we have individual nozzles here, so you can fill the left side airbag independently from the right side airbag. We'll go ahead and demonstrate that right now. I'm going to fill the passenger side up. Now that we have our passenger side filled, we'll fill the driver side. more
